Why do people post idiotic videos and comments?

I can understand if people want to express their opinions, however, there should be a line between opinions and insults. When people post insults the only thing they're doing is showing how judgmental and narrow they they are. The video that sparked the protesting in the Middle East, for example, it is responsible for the death of at least four people. Paraphrasing my friend, the people who made the video should be charged with third degree murder because while they didn't intend for people to die over their video... well you know what the road to hell is paved with. Also, while I fully support freedom of speech, there is also a responsibility that comes with any right, privilege, or freedom people have. In this case it is to know when opinions should be aired while doing so appropriately and to take responsibility for what one does just as you are suppose to take responsibility for ones actions. If someone can't follow this simple rule, they clearly can't handle living in America and don't get the concept of living in a community and should leave. The sooner the better! *hint hint*

  1. First, your little hint hint made me laugh. :) Second, I completey agree that rights come with responsibilities. We can say what we want, but if what we say does harm to someone else, we should have to pay the price. It kind of reminds me of bullying, which is a huge issue at the moment. Kids have commited suicide because of what people have said to or about them. Those bullies should be punished, and they are. The person who made this video should take responsibility for his actions.

  2. Agreed, agreed with both of you. It would be great if we could be part of the Supreme Court so we could sentence the guy to jail, but the Constitution would get on the way. What is there to do, since freedom of speech is so important? Go out there in the rain to protest? 0-0

  3. We should take some responsibility when we elect to use our freedoms, but not 100% of other people's reactions toward that video or post are the publisher's fault. People have the same freedom to comment back whatever they choose. You can't put all the blame on one person. Things can be misinterpreted, is that necessarily the writer's fault?

  4. I do agree we should excersize responsibility when it comes to freedom. But it's difficult, since there are so many people in the world, and it's impossible to control the minds of everyone. But I don't think this means limiting freedom. I feel it means promoting ideas of understanding within our society, and we the poeple have the power to do that. I disagree with the reaction of those in the Middle East, but fighint right back will only spark their anger further. It's extremely complex, and I can't even come up with a complete response. Interesting subject!
